I will be speaking at 3f. What should I know?

Presenting at 3f is meant to be an opportunity to reach across the academic/practitioner divide, and to make long-term impact. This means:

  1. Presentations will be filmed, edited and made available online (as well as given to presenters for their own use). However, presenters can also opt out, either before or after the presentation.
  2. Speakers of course can use slides, but slide-free presentations are also welcomed.
  3. Presentation slots are 15 minutes (note that 1-2 minutes will be taken up by speaker change). How the alloted time is used is up to the individual speaker. However, in order to have impactful presentation recording, we suggest either leaving a few minutes for Q&A at the end, or skipping Q&A entirely, as there multiple other ways to engage with other participants (during coffee breaks and lunch, as well as through the 3f app, which will encourage discussion around each presented talk and will be available to the 3f community permanently after the event).
  4. 3f talks should be accessible to smart, interested non-specialists, and should include ideas/implications for academic/practitioner collaborations. This means that presenting practitioners should avoid jargon, and (after overviewing their / their company’s work), include questions that they would want researchers to address, describe (anonymized) datasets that they could potentially share with researchers etc. Presenting academics should skip or minimize literature reviews and robustness checks and focus on what they did, why this is innovative/important, and what are the implications for practice.
What is the dress code for 3f?

Smart casual.

Where should I stay during 3f?

The 3f conference hotel, nhow Amsterdam RAI, is excellent, but not cheap. However, there are a great many other options within a walking distance or a short train/metro ride from the venue.

Are sponsorship, partnership, or exhibition opportunities available?
